True Indian Comics...

I have been telling it again and again, and this time a visitor comment has strenghten my desire. I never complaint about our passion towards foreign characters, but have always felt too bad for the ignorance of our original characters, our artists...

We have so many sites and blogs running but how much are there to stand for Indian comics in true sense. With the desire to make people aware of our long forgotten comic industry I created a site giving informations about the characters and publishers unknown to most of the people like Nutan, Cheenu, Pawan, Prabhat, Chitra Bharti Kathamala, goyal, Radha comics to name a few, but due to the cold response I left it unfinished...

But from now on, no matter what, i will publish atleast 2 Indian comics every month but they will not be regular Dhruv, Doga or other very very popular characters, whose comics are ready to download from a lot of places. I will concentrate on the unique, unknown comics that I am really proud of having in my collection - the nostalgic, rare issues. And offcourse that what I had in mind when I created the site...To serve rare and uncommion comical gems and that I will do...

Following here I am posting some covers which are like a rare gems in my comic treasures...

Anupam you gave words to my deep heart felt feelings.
There are many sites/sources where comparatively newer Indian/Foreign comics are readily available but very few or almost nil where old Hindi Indian comics can be found.
Its really very encouraging that you will also be emphasizing on Indian Hindi comics, its a very appreciating thought.Pls keep it up
Indian award space was also a unique dedication towards our Indian comics, its unfortunate that it didn't got the deserved applause and credit.
I too will be trying to post Hindi/Indian comics more often rather than which i do now just in order to pay a humble respect to these gems.

@Sushant - Very soon Pal, I have just finished scanning a very old Manoj Chitrakatha, based on a very popular fairy tales we used to hear from our grandparent. But the editing and uploading will be possible only on tomorrow. So please visit again for a gem of Indian comics...

@Comic World - It's really very pleasant that you share the same thought. I will try to keep my promise and would start updating my encylopedia site very soon...

You know today I got a comic, which was printed only using two colours - blue and Pink. It was unusual. I have seen b/w and coloured ones. But this one was something I have never seen or heard about. Would post a sample page tomorrow...

Nice Vintage Covers!!

How MANY Varities of Indian Characters/Series do you have/read?? Most of us read ONLY some 7-10 famous Indian Charcters through DC (besides Indrajal's own creations)!!!
My FIRST HERO was NOT Phantom/mandrake etc but CHACHA CHAUDRARY!! :O) I used to buy EACH & EVERY Comics of this ol' clever man along wid other favs like Biloo/Pinki/Raman etc etc!!His combo wid Sabu was too exciting for us!! Wid these ,there were Tarzan/TinTin/Batman/Indrajal & MANY other foreign characters which occupied my most comic-times!

Post some Lambu-Motu as I'd read a few of this series & liked 'em(allthough bit cinematic but gud!)

Dear Anupam pls feel free to ask for any humble help which i could provide in updating the award space.I sincerely wish it should be kept complete and updated.
Yeah,i am too having a couple of old ACKs which are printed in blue/pink ink only. That was the phase when it was too costly to afford color printing hence some of the publishers tried to use 2 or 3 colors rather than multiple coloring scheme in order to befit their budget.

@Dara - I have the comics of about 70 different characters form more than a dozen indian publishers. I have created a list of all the Indian characters and series published (offcourse it gets updated as new characters come to the knowledge now and then)

@CW - Thanks for the offer buddy, I certainly would ask you for some material as soon as I would start updating the site.

In the meantime can you suggest a good free server where I can put my site, as awardspace's is not accessible many a time...

I have the comics of about 70 different characters
Ywow!!
Btwn,I've too started collecting Other Comic-Series besides my major goals like Ijc/DC/ACK/TIntin/Archie etc and meantime I got Dolton's Superman/Batman series frm '80s!! ALL r in gud shape n ~20 copies I got! :-)
Also, only frm ur Encyclopedia I realised those Tarzan/Laurel-H comics were published by 'Kiran Comics' and yes, they published ONLY thez 2 characters!! :-)

Besides these,my old Diamond charcters like Chacha,Pinki r always there wid few Dynamite/Lambu-moyu/channi Chachi/Shaka etc,,allthough Pran's creations r always d BEST!

PS - I now remember tht, during my Ijc-hunt,I've seen MANY Hindi Comics,I guess Druv/Doga etc & few Madhu Muskan too but I was reluectant to pick 'em up,,,major reason was I NEVER read 'em b4 so no affinity & ALSO those were Hindi only & I prefer comics in English/Bengali mostly(xcept Phantom/Mandrake! :D),,,but may be in my nxt visits I'll pick some old issues as these r lost gem too!

I'm sure if Druv/Doga/MM were published in other languages too, they wud have earned MORE popularity!

Anupam i think you can also use Myspace as an optional space for award space.I hope if anybody could suggest more such better options.
Dara, Dhurv/Doga was used to be published in English too,now i don't know the current status of it.
Even i remember that Madhumuskan also was being published in English for some short duration of time, though i am not 100% sure.

I can recognize a few of these covers..had them in my collection

Pls upload whatever is possible for you. There are other brothers who upload Indrajal & Raj. They are good, but at least for me, nothing can beat the appeal of the old Manoj Chitra Kathas and Diamond Comics

Chacha Paropkarilal, Mamaji...i'm simply bowled over

Anupam said...

Dear Ajay,

Thanks a lot for such a sweet comment and this is the personal award I want from the visitors, but due to the lack of such nice comments, I have lost interest and would only update the informatives page about indian comic in a new site...

Though one good news is that there are some sites and forum keep coming on indian comics, the bad news is that almost all of them are on new releases and especially focused on raj comics.

Send me the email, and will keep informing you whenver I will get good comics to read ...

Sorry again for the blog

Hi Anupam,

Thank you for bringing all the treasures and childhood memories back. Yes, you are right in searching and uploading lost treasures. Raj, Indrajal comics can be downloaded from many places. I am desperately searching for Shakti-putra comics from Radha comics but they are so hard to find but perhaps most of all I am looking for Tarzan and Korak from Kiran Comics. There were so many publishers printing Foreign characters with awesome stories but now they ar esort of impossible to find.

Once again thank you (from the core of heart) for making me relive my childhood days.

Dear Himdeep,

Its nice to see new comments on a very old post.

I am still on the comic hunt, but now not get much as either they are extinct or very rarely available, and that too in high prices which I simply can't afford.

About Shaktiputra from Radha comics , they are not that hard to find (atleast few of them). If you want to have e-copy there are about 7-8 of his comics are uploaded.

and like you I really love those Kiran's Tarzan and especially Korak comics. I too am looking for them as I only have 5 of them.
