Manoj Chitrakatha 135 - Rajkanya Phoolkumari

I am feeling very excited and proud while posting this issue.

I am calling it my tribute to the great Indian Comic Industry. This is an issue from the mighty Manoj Chitrakatha (Later Manoj Comics). I don't know about others, but for me the real strength of MCK rested upon these great tales of fairies, knights, kings, queens, demons, morality and others.

MCK was best when it came in the giant size series, the illustrations and stories were excellent and entertaining.

This is the first of my collection. A story we all used to hear from our grandparents, about a princess whose stepmother strikes a nail on her head and she becomes a bird...Remember...
Check out the great comic and get a feel of the Magical Manoj Chitrakatha(s)...

Great Going! :D
I alredy had d/l & have a glimse throughout the book,,,a nice scan quality too!!

Plse post Lombu-Motu if you have any!

One thing I didn't liked:the illustration,,other day you were talking abt ACK's some poor art-work,,but don you think here also story bit suffred due 2 d same??May be this particluar(or some other)issue suffred this, but honestly art was something didn't appeled much while coloring & script were really cool! :-)

I donno why but after Pran,Mr.Mullick(and those Ilustrators of Bahadur/Dara:Brahamania's)we hardly experinced a high standard artist in Indian Comics(of 'cos frm wht I read,,many left 2 read,I know!)!!

Dear Anupam a very nice selection of comic to post.
After ACKs Manoj Chitra Katha's were next best in story selection and illustrations, they were hugely popular at a time.Later on with the advent of Raj Comics they somehow lacked of innovative ideas and couldn't pace with the changing taste of readers and were eventually left far behind by Raj Comics, but nevertheless they occupy a major nostalgic memory space.
Can anyone forget the giant size MCKs..."Lal Ghati Ka Rehasya" and other was of Mahabali Shera,i don't remember the name at the moment.

@Dara - About the illustration. It was a 80s comic, when Indian comics were just evolving. Plus the illustration was not poor if not great. Do compare the illustration to some poor works of ACK, while there were too good and too bad illustrations, MCK kept on providing a modest illustration.

For instance compare with Vasantsena. Plus as you told Inking was great, and that is some printing quality which is great at that time, but even today we can't see dazzling colours in costlier ACKs. Agreed?

On the whole for these MCKs, I have no complaints.

And do check Manu (for Doga), and Anupam Sinha (Dhruv and Nanhe Samrat). For me no artist came greater then Anupam Sinha. (Not because his name is the same as mine), but because he is the best...Any doubt, just turn pages of some Dhruv comics...

Try them pal, they are great and they were published in ENGLISH too...

Yep!!Tht wht I'd told earlier,,,ACK had fluctuatn of illustrations,,SOME R SUPERB(A GUD Numbers) and some r very poor(gr8 eg:Ashoka!)!!I donno abt MCK though,,now as u r providing scans,we can read some much heard MCKs!! thnx,, :-)

DRUV & DOGA in english??? CAN U PLSE POST A FEW??? I'LL love to read 'em in english!!! :D

Actually I wrote about Dhruv. From what I know Dhruv and Nagraj were being published in English for some issues. Right now I don't have any but would surely search for them and post them...

But there were few in English and that's 100% sure...
